Tip of the Month - Lock it down

After closing out your month or financial period, set the LockDown Date to prevent transactions from being modified.  When you have published all issues for the desired period and have run all of your accounting procedures and reports, setting the lockdown date will prevent payments and adjustments entered in that timeframe from being modified. Setting the LockDown Date will also prevent new transactions from being back-dated into this period, which will throw off reporting for future accounting periods.

Set the LockDown Date from the Settings tab within the Accounting tab from the Accounting main menu.  If the month of May has been settled, for example, set this date to 5/31/08 to prevent any new transactions being dated before 6/1/08 or any transactions dated before 6/1/08 from being edited.

Did you know?

You don't have to print your invoices immediately after generating them?  If you've just generated invoices and are not ready to print them, you may leave the list and find it again when you're ready.  Using the SmartFind, do an Invoice search for invoices by date, issue ID or even creation date.  The list of invoices will appear, and you can print just as you would have originally after generating them.
